England are through to the last 16 of the World Cup with a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago. It was a hard job and I have to say they werent all that impressive. But a win is a win, as I said in a previous post about Hull Fc's win a couple of weeks ago against Huddersfield, and what did we do in the next game? Win away at the league leaders.
England will do better, still have that feeling about 'em.
Hull FC are at home tonight against Harlequins RL. Now we should win, but they are a bit of a bogey side for us (in their former guise as the London Broncos) The cheeky devils have actually beaten us at home the the last 2 seasons.
Tonight I predict they will be win no 9 on the bump. (wink)

Yes England are through without hitting form yet. Its rare a team wins it that starts well its usually one that improves through the competition.
Anyway Aaron is going to be the star of the show.
I'm not a big Rugby fan although I have a few friends that are (most support Leeds or Castleford) but I see Hull FC won tonight so well done.
Yes it was a workmanlike performance, but were on a run of 9 wins on the bounce so I'm more than pleased. :) Have you been to an RL game? you should try it, Leeds have a good atmosphere at Headingley, although not as good as us lot ofcourse lol. Cas is OK too, I enjoy going there as you can get a decent pint lol.
Yes I've been to a few RL matches with friends but I've always been a football fan first. I still like RL but don't support anyone in particular (only Yorkshire teams against them from over the Hills).
I actually went to the Challenge cup final at Wembley twice in the eighties once actually supporting Hull but they lost to Wigan.
The other visit I supported Castleford when they beat Hull KR.
Its great to have someone from Yorkshire to blog with as all my other blog friends (nice people though) are from the other side of the Atlantic.
in thier previous guise? what about hull fc's previous lives? hull fc, gateshead, hull sharks, hull fc again. sounds like your team are struggling to find a true identity. how the hell you have the audacity to put on the clubs badge est. 1865 is beyond me. surely it should be est. 2001!!!!
The club originated in 1865. it has evolved since then and has had different guises I'll grant you, but there is an unbroken thread from then to the present day.
Anyway, wasnt HKR a football club in the dim and distant past? Not even played rugby? I seem to remember an Albany FC, think thats the name.
Will have to do some research on that one.......

Thats great you supported Hull Fc in 85 when we played Wigan. Were pretty good at loosing cup finals, infact weve lost more finals than any other team! I think thats why it meant so much to us when we won it last year.

Hull Kingston Rovers began in 1882 when a group of boilermakers in the Hessle Road area of Hull came together. Originally named Kingston Amateurs, the club colours were agreed to be red jerseys with a blue band across the chest, white shorts and red socks. The first ground that was used was a piece of waste land in Albert Street, and in the Autumn of 1883 a new club was founded when Kingston Amateurs kicked off the season playing in the Hull and District league.
By 1885 Kingston Amateurs had played at three grounds, Albert Street, Anlaby Road and now Chalk Lane. The club name was also changed to Kingston Rovers as they entered the Times Cup in the 1885/86 season.
The club won its first trophy in the 1887/88 season by winning the Times Cup, beating Selby A in the final.
In 1895 the Northern Football Union was founded, when the leading Rugby Union sides in the North of England broke away to form a league of their own, comprising 22 clubs. Hull Kingston Rovers were promoted to the second division of the R.F.U and finished joint second. Rovers then moved to their first East Hull ground, on Craven Street off Holderness Road.
and just so you know a little about your team i found this (before i put this down, hull are the joining together of two teams, hull football club and hull white star, a team that were actually from east hull)
Hull FC is one of the oldest clubs in the League and was formed by a group of ex-public schoolboys from York in 1865. Following a succession of grounds and headquarters, the club moved into the Hull Athletic Club’s ground at the Boulevard and played their first game there in September 1895, when a record crowd of 8,000 witnessed the ‘Airlie Birds’ defeat Liversedge in the very first season of Northern Union Football.
Hull FC was one of the original clubs to apostatise from the RFU. Hull prospered and their famous black and white irregular hooped jerseys became one of the most famous and feared strips in the League. Between 1908-10, Hull lost three consecutive Northern Union Cup Finals, and has in fact lost in more major finals than anyone else

Thanks for that, I did know about Hull White Star and that we have lost more finals than any other club.
I also knew that HKR started in the West of the city and HFC in the East. Ironic that isnt it?
You still cant deny though that the Hull club have had an unbroken thread since 1865. Its like the name Great Britain, it hasnt always been 'called' that, but its the same country isnt it? Things change and evolve but have the same roots.
P.S. I hope your not one of those fellas that think women dont know anything about RL? My Father in Law thought that and was soon put right lol.
