Went to see the lads today and it was one of those games in which the best you could say about it was that we got the 2 points.
Mind you, they say its the sign of a good team when the performance is a bit off colour but you still get the result.
Looking on the bright side, at one point in the match we had 9 local lads playing for us.
Not many teams in many sports could boast that nowadays.
Our next game is a week on Thursday, away at St Helens. I'll be going as I've swapped nights at work.
Ofcourse far be it for me to tempt fate, but if I go away we usually do ok, maybe its some sort of psychic influence.
Or Psycho some would say........... :)

The Mighty Whites lost on Sunday, unfortunately we weren't so mighty at all. All the more disappointing was that although Watford deserved to win, and good luck to em, they weren't all that good to be honest.
We should have beaten em at a canter, but hey, the sporting world is full of 'should haves'
Next year we'll be stronger for this, you mark my words :)
Anyway, back to the rugby on Sunday with a home game against Huddersfield. The lads should be nice and rested after our free weekend as Challenge Cup games were played.
Oh, and on a conciliatory note, well done Rovers on reaching the quarter finals. They have a hard draw against Warrington, and I wish them well. Really I do. Honest. :)

Just a very quick post. No Rugby for the FC this week as its a Challenge Cup weekend, and ofcourse we got knocked out :(
But grieve not my friends!
Leeds United will be back in the premiership later today! I have my fingers, eyes,legs and anything else crossable crossed.

Whaheyyyy!!!
Yet another fab result for the Fc! 28-44 away at Headingley. It was a marvellous performance, especially in the 1st half. we literally blew them away with some marvellous attacking play.
We're really playing some VERY pretty Rugby League at the moment.
After the match was a bit of a messing about though. We lost our coach. Apparently the helpful local Gendarmes and moved it on. So as a result we spent about an hour looking for the thing! We werent the only one too, on our travels we passed another group of fans who had lost their bus as well!
My eldest daughter will be going to study at Leeds University later this year and will be living not far from the ground. So if it happens again, we'll be able to pop for a cuppa!

When I was 13 I fell in love with Norman 'Bites your legs' Hunter, and from then on I've always followed Leeds United. Hull Fc are my first love ofcourse, but if we are talking about the round ball game the Mighty Whites are for me. I tried Hull City, I really did, but I think a team picks you, you dont pick the team, and so Leeds Utd it was.
The last couple of years have I really taken some stick. I work in a pub and the season Leeds were relegated from the Premiership, I'd bet my shirt with a regular ( a Man Yooo fan) that we wouldnt go down. I lost. So what the bugger did was cut my shirt up and placed the badge in a frame with the addage 'Leeds Utd, go down, 2004' Its behind the bar now on the wall.
Yesterday we got to the Play off final to get back into the Premiership.
We win, that bleedin' thing goes in the bin!!

Well I have to gloat about this, just incase a certain blogger looks in.
We beat the Bulls 28-12!
It was a fantastic game, really tough, and a fabulous advert for rugby league. It was a shame Sky didnt cover it. We really seem to have picked up a pace and last night I was very proud to be a Hull fan!!
I also stayed up last night and watched the re-run of the Wigan-Castleford game. Wigan lost again. They're in really deep trouble and I for one cant see Brian Noble turning things around with that lot! Especially when he's picked some of em for the GB training squad, (one hasnt even played this season as well) Which just goes to show what a nincompoop he is. This is a personal view ofcourse, and what do I know? (Nout I hear you cry!!)
What will be more and more interesting is will the RL 'LET' Wigan go down?? I can see some creativeness with the relegation rules in the future. Lets see what happens shall we?

Well, its far too early for me to be up (its about 6.15am) but I just woke up about 5am and could not get back to sleep. I listened to the radio to find out about how the local elections went. Labour dont seem to have done very well, but ofcourse they'll spin it as a blip and just go on there merry way. I saw some dimwit on TV last night saying it was mid term blues, how can it be 'mid-term' when the government were only elected last year??
All governments wear a bit thin after a while, but this lot have been such a dissapointment. They seem to have completely left behind what the Labour party was created for: the ordinary working man. A case in point is how Blair has so blindly followed George Bush. Bush ofcourse is a madman, but you could argue that Blair is worse, as he seems to be an intelligent man.
Anyway, on to more important things. The other men in my life, Hull Fc, are at home to the Bradford Bulls. It will be a good gauge on how well weve improved of late. We owe dem Bulls a drubbing!!

I was a little worse for the wear today, as hubby and I went out last night. It has to be said I had one too many! Anyway, I got myself down to the KC to watch the lads, and I'm glad I did. Smashing display. Especially in the 1st half. The final score was 54-12.
Wigan have major probs, it looks like they dont want to know, which just isn't good enough when near on 2000 fans have bothered to travel across the country to support you!!

Now many years ago, when I turned 18, (Queen Victoria was on the throne I believe!) I remember when it was election time, my Nana rang me up. She reminded me how important it was to vote. Especially us women, she said, as ladies had chained themselves to railings and one threw herself under the Kings racehorse to get us the vote. I replied I would vote, and her parting remark was ' and I dont care who you vote for Mandy, as long as its Labour'
For quite a few years I did, untill Tony Blair became leader. There was just something about him I didnt like. I remember my Dad playing merry hell with me when I told him I hadn't voted Labour at that election.
So I was amazed to hear that my Dad (both my parents have already voted by post) has not voted Labour in the council elections.
If someone like my Dad hasn't voted Labour, theyre in big trouble on Thursday, and I for one wont weep for 'em.

Just another quick post again. We won on our trip to La France. Thats 3 wins on the trot so things are looking up! Our next game is at home to Wigan, complete with new coach Brian Noble. It will be interesting how he goes at Wigan, without a big team to steamroller the opposition with.
Our new coach arrives on Thursday. so we'll see how we go over the next few weeks as we have some pretty tough games coming up.
On a personal note, I made a booboo, my new niece's name is spelt 'Kathryn' I did try and post a pic of her, but it wouldnt work. ah well, I'll have a go next time.

Hello all.
Easter was a good time for the lads, we won both games. My brother and I couldnt think when we last did an Easter double. Its amazing how a new coach's arrival can concentrate minds.
Our next game will be in France playing the Catalan Dragons. It will be a hard game, they can play some very pretty stuff. That leads me to the title of this post. Old Faithful, we roam the range together, translated into French.
Dont anyone say my posts aren't educational!

Just a short post today. We have a new coach at Hull, an Aussie called Peter Sharp. He's one of our ex coaches, Brian Smith's, no 2 at Parramatta. Not well known but well reccomended. I know a lot of FC fans wanted a more high profile appointment, but I'm quite happy really. I liked the style of rugby we played when Smithy was in charge, and they must have a similar approach to things as he's had him as his no2 at 2 different clubs.
I'm for giving him a fair shot. Welcome to Hull Mr Sharp! :)

Well chaps! What a week it has been in the life of Hull FC. One thing you can never call them is Dull. (There is some person who frequents a certain forum I do that calls us the Dulls. God knows where he lives...Tibet??)
Well it started with defeat at Bradford, so our defence of the Challenge Cup lasted the pace didnt it?? To be fair our performance was much improved, but just wasnt good enough. Then rumours started to fly about our coach, John Kear's, position. It then leaked out that his contract would not be renewed at the end of this ongoing season. Anyway he came to an agreement with the board and has left the club. Now this hasnt really suprised me to be honest. Our results have just not been good enough this season. Although all teams go through bad patches, it was the manner of the defeats that worried me. Also rumours flying about pointed to the fact that John Kear had lost the dressing room. It does seem to me we need someone in the job who could sort out certain lads who like a 'good time' We have to wait and see what develops. Meanwhile we entertain the Leeds Rhinos on Friday. Crikey, cant say I'm looking forward to that. I am hoping the fans will rally round and turn up and support the lads. Folk come and go but Hull Fc stays. The club is the main.

Well.
What an absolute shambles on Friday. We where beaten at home by St Helens 0-46. Now on the surface you could argue theres no shame in that. St Helens are a top class side in corking form, and havnt lost a game yet. So, you could hold up your hands and say 'Its a fair cop'
You cant do that though. We were nilled at home which was unforgivable. We played like a bunch of bananas and thats being polite. Its taken me since Friday to calm down and write this!!
The thing is, things could go from bad to worse. We start our defence of The Challenge Cup on Saturday, away at Bradford. If we continue to play as we have been of late it will be our only defence of the Cup. The week after we entertain Leeds. so it is quite conceivable that if we loose both of those matches we will have won ONE out of 7.
That would be uneceptable, and there would have to be a shake up. There really seems to be something very wrong. I just hope it can be sorted out.


On a completely different subject, somene sent me a link to a web site, now I dont know how they did it but they calculated the IQ's of the last 12 Presidents of the US. Guess who was last?? Yes, it was George W. Bush whose IQ was 91!!! and guess who was just above him?? his Dad George H W Bush with 98.
Just as a matter of interest the Pres with the highest IQ was Bill Clinton, with an IQ of 182. Which just goes to show brains dont always go hand in hand with common sense! :)

Hello all. Well this week has been spent sniffling and keeping Kleenex, Kittensoft and all those tissue manufacturers in business. Yes you've guessed it, I've been full of cold!
Last Sunday, Hull Fc won at Wakefield 20-28. It was a win we needed, wasnt a comfy win but we did the job.
Tonight we entertain the league leaders St Helens. Saints have started the season really well and havnt lost a match yet. It is going to be a very hard game for us. The weather is very wet tonight which is always a leveller. We'll see how things go!

Hi again. I'm having a pretty quiet week off so far, didnt go out today as all this snow appeared from somewhere!
Well dear pals we lost again on Friday against Bradford. Thats 3 on the trot. We did have a good game game actually, and could of won the game, but we didnt. Things need to pick up with a win at the weekend against Wakefield, or things will start to look worrying.
Also in the 1st round of the Challenge Cup, (where Super League teams start taking part) We have drawn Bradford away.... funnilly enough the hardest draw in the round. Mind you, we played Super League teams in every round last year on way to our Fantabulous win, so hey.....who gives a monkeys lol.

I've been musing about something here (Some people would call that dangerous!)
I do surf various sites, some blogs etc like everyone else and I came across some thoughts about a certain Bill that is going through Parliament at the moment. It has a very long and quite boring name : The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill. Now I read about this in the Sunday paper a few weeks ago, and although I dont pretend to understand everything about it, you know when something doesnt sit right?
Apparently it gives Ministers the right to ammend some legislation without 'bothering' Parliament and wasteing their time. Sounds very sweet of them doesnt it?
Well, there are some safguards in place such as, you cant use the powers to raise taxes, or impliment any new criminal offences that can cause someone to be imprisoned for 2 years or more. (I think I got that right)
Ofcourse we trust our present Government implicitly....
but, what would stop some Minister in the future changing the actual safguards in the bill, and not bother to tell parliament as there isnt any safeguards to protect the safeguards?
Now I dont pretend to be a clever person, but with this Bill, and all the stuff about ID cards, things just seem fishy.

Oh dear friends! To carry on from my last post, not only did we loose against the Harlequins, but we lost yesterday against the Bradford Bulls. That is 3 games on the trot! The performance last night was very promising though, and we had chances to win the game. I'm not too worried about things yet, as there are flashes of quite brilliant rugby that keeps the chin up. I have faith in the lads. Hopefully our seasons bad patch has been and gone. Hopefully.
I am just embarking on a weeks holiday, so I might even post twice this week!
Today has been quiet. We (Hubby and I)had a trail around some shops and came back with a light bulb! So a very productive day it has been.
Tomorrow I'll be messing about making lunch etc. One of these days I'll be taken out for Sunday lunch.
Better go as I'm making some pasta for supper.

Hello dear pals.
Tonight I will be off to watch Hull Fc play The reinvented Harlequins RL. I hope the performance will be markedly better than the one last Friday away at Warrington. After a marvellous start we fell to bits. As a result I lost my temper and got very cold as well!
Hopefully this will not be repeated often!
The last few days here in Hull has been lovely and sunny, but with a freezing cold wind that bites even when you only go out as far as the dustbin at the bottom of the garden. (Which I do often,if I can stay in and do nothing I usually do, especially when its very cold or very hot.) The weather forcasts keep threatening snow, but it hasnt appeared yet.
Now I've only seen the new game show 'Deal or no deal' a couple of times, I understand its pretty popular. I think the top prize is about £500.000. I am at the mo listening to an American Station online, and their top prize for the same show is $3 million! Crazy isnt it? The thing is, with those sort of amounts involved, you could have someone seriously loosing the plot if they'd got the wrong box, I wonder if contestants are screened for stability?
Earlier today I was talking to a friend online who happens to work in the British consulate in Islamabad, Pakistan. At the moment, that intellectual great that is the President of the United States is visiting the area. He and his co-workers are confined to their houses while the visit is on. I would imagine so no buns, tomatoes or other missles are thrown his (the Preznits) way. He did say about the protection that was scuttling about, which actually included tanks, hellicopters, armoured vehicles and all sorts of hardware. My friend was quite pleased as he was promised a go driving one of the armoured vehicles that was parked in his front garden after the visit was over. What fun!!!
American politics has always fascinated me, ever since I was a young girl and watched President Nixon resign on TV. They do tend to throw up some marvellous crooks. I think were seeing some real 'contenders' over there now, the worrying thing is our 'great and good' in the UK seem to be following their every move!

Hello all. I just have a free min or so I thought I'd write a few lines.
Hull Fc won yesterday, 40-14 I was pretty pleased with the performance. One defensive stint in the 1st half was really good stuff. I dont think Wakefield looked like causing us much trouble, although they looked nippy and got the ball out of the tackle a lot.
We are now 2nd in the table.....not as bonny as 1st ofcourse, but bonnyish.

Hello all, yes, I know its been some time since I posted on here. But I have mentioned that I'm not very good at keeping things up to date lol.
Anyway, the new rugby season is upon us. Hull Fc had a good win away at Castleford on Friday, with an 18-24 win. It was a bit of a cold night, but I was so glad to get back watching the lads again!
At the moment were top of the league , ok, only after one game but it still looks bonny lol.
Our next game is against Wakefield on Sunday, the first home game of the season.
On a more personal note we had some good news this last week, my daughter has been excepted to study Japanese at Leeds University. Its something shes wanted to do for a long time and I'm glad shes finally made it :)
Its a nice sunny day here today, hopefully were seeing the back end of winter now, famous last words I'm sure!

PS Ive just been watching a clip of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Its an American show currently being shown on More 4 on digital TV in the UK, and its one of the few shows I watch regularly. The clip was about the Vice President of the US, Dick Cheney, shooting a fella accidently on a hunting trip (you couldnt make this up could you??) Anyway the clip is really funny.
