Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to everyone!
I hope we have a more peaceful year in 2007 but can't see it unfortunately. Not with the muppets in charge here and in the US. (I could use stronger words than muppets but I wont.)
I wish health and happiness to my family.
But on a lighter note I hope Hull FC go one better and win that Grand Final.
Rovers stay up (So we can continue to taunt them on an even footing!)
And may my beloved Leeds Utd turn things round.
See you in the New Year! :)

Favourite Sites
One of my Fave sites on the net that I visit every day, is rl.fans.com It's a forum site, every RL club has their own forum for fans to post in, and most have a fan's club site as well, all accessed on the same page. There are also general RL forums etc.
You can pick up rumours and all sorts of news that you would never find out from your clubs main site. Some posts are absolute gems like the one I read this morning from a poster called 'Admiral Hanson'
He was talking about a book called 'Rugby's great split' by Tony Collins, that documents the split between Rugby Onion (oops Union) and the Rugby League. He posted a little piece of it about crowd disturbances around the turn of the last century, and RL punishments to the clubs involved:
Bradford - Jan 1897 - Referee snowballed after the game - No Action taken.
Rochdale - Dec 1897 - 'Rowdy Conduct' by boys - 200 Notices put up / Boys prices raised to 6d.
Hull KR - 'Rowdyism' - Notices Put Up.
Keighley - Dec.1903 - Referee punched by spectator - Ground Closed (3 weeks)
Hull FC - Mar. 1905 - Opponents stoned after the game - Ground Closed (4 Weeks)
(I wonder if we lost!)
Widnes - Sept. 1908 - Referee 'Shouted & Hooted' at - Notices Put Up
Oh for a time when if something 'rowdy' happened you could just put a notice up!

The Osmonds
I mentioned in my last post about finding an Osmonds song on You tube well here is 'Let me in.' Ah, the memories of the madhouse that was the Apollo Theatre, Manchester, sometime in the 70's, where a couple of pals and myself went to see them in concert. Believe me it WAS a madhouse!
(N.B. they played their own instruments)

Take That
Ah yes, I know what you're going to say....... My daughters where big fans in their early teens, and thats how I viewed them really, as a boy band my daughters loved. Anyway theyre back with a No 1 single. My eldest daughter Michelle (home for Christmas) got me to listen to it. Take That fans seem to be as loyal as us Osmonds fans of the 70's. Hey. thats a thought....I'll have a look around You Tube for some Osmonds lol.
Anyway, heres 'Patience' Take Thats latest single, and very good it is too!

Goodbye Mr Dickin.
I was sorry to hear about the death of radio broadcaster Mike Dickin today. I enjoyed listening to his shows very much.
I always remember my Dad listening to the morning show he used to do, whilst decorating my kitchen. He hadn't heard him before and was absolutely helpless with laughing at him having rant about something. He didn't suffer fools gladly did Mr Dickin, and always talked a lot of sense.
R.I.P.

Just saying hello
I thought I'd better do a new post as its been a week now. When I've had the time to do a post I haven't been able to think of anything to say!
Well Christmas is only a week away. I still have some pressies to get, I think that will be tomorrow. I always leave the foray into the town centre until the very last minute. Waiting in queues to be served is the thing I hate the most. My first job was as a check out operator in a supermarket, and I swear we was a LOT faster than a great deal of the assistants now with all their technology! We had to hand ring in every price, and as a result you remembered a lot of them. Now you don't have too. Its the same with the change, you do become very lazy mentally when all the tills work it all out for you.
Anyway, this time next week it will be nearly over........thank God!

Another Year.
The eagle-eyed may have noticed there has been a little change in my profile. Yes, its my age. Today I turned 48.
My hubby was 48 yesterday, I went about telling everyone he was 56. I dunno if they believed me :)
Anyway, 48....I cant believe how the years fly by.
Only one thing for it, more Oil of Olay it is!

AB meets Father Christmas!
Today was the Kids Christmas party at the pub where I work. My sister and I took my niece Sophie along, and she seemed to have a great time. She was a bit unsure of Father Christmas though. This is the nearest I could get her to him for a picture!
She liked the present though, and was quite chuffed afterwards!

Current Bands I love to listen too # 2
Audioslave.
Now I must admit it was my daughter who introduced me to the delights of singer Chris Cornell, he used to be in a band called Soundgarden, a favourite of hers. Soundgarden split, and so did another fave band of both my daughters called Rage against the Machine. They parted company with their singer, so Chris joined the others, and Audioslave was born.
A really GOOD band, you can tell they're all top notch musicians. Lead guitarist Tom Morello, is an absolute revelation, but my heart belongs to Mr Cornell. He could sing the phone book and it would sound fantastic.
This is a track off their first album: Cochise.

Bigger isn't always better.
I was messing about with my mobile phone and went on-line, it always amazes me what you can do with a mobile phone nowadays. Anyway, O2 my provider, had an offer of a free game download. So I downloaded that old stalwart, Tetris, and ended up playing it for ages!
I've always enjoyed playing computer games, on the PC and console. Going back quite while, my first console was a Sega Master system, then we went on to the Sega Mega Drive, then PSX and we now have a PS2. We've also had a PC for many years. Where games are concerned you notice one thing. The older games don't look as fancy as the modern sort, but they do have one thing that a lot of the state of the art games don't have, and that's playability. Where you cant put something down! Tetris has that in spades!
