New Shirts and New Starts.

New Shirts...
There was a time when the commercial side of my darling Hull FC was to be frank, rubbish. They couldn't even manage to get the new kit out before Christmas, when of course, a lot of merchandise is bought. Over the last few years they have slowly got their act together, the last couple years tapping the Seasonal market.
Anyway, the first picture of our new shirt has been released. The home shirt is a little different to last seasons shirt, keeping the more traditional style. The away strip is pretty different, moving back to a blue strip as we had in the 2005 season.

And New Starts.....
Dennis Wise had the best possible start as the new manager of Leeds Utd with a 2-0 win at home against Southend. They say you're only as good as your last game, and we won! Anyway, as I said when a new manager was brought in at Hull FC, everyone deserves a fair crack of the whip and I'll watch Dennis Wise with interest. No matter what his background is, the 'Dark Side of Chelsea' no less, the lad has turned to the light, and all power to his elbow!!!!
I have the same good feeling about Wisey as I did when Peter Sharp took over at Hull FC. I hope he has similar success.

Hull

Lots of surveys say that Hull is one of the worst places to live. Some of the city is pretty bad it must be said, but a lot is pretty nice. Heres's a few pictures of the nice places :) I didn't take any of these personally, but found them online. So thank you to all the photographers!

Holy Trinity Church.

City Hall, Queen Victoria Square.

The Punch Hotel, Queen Victoria Square.
On my first date with my husband, we had a drink in The Punch. Poured with rain it did!

And now a couple of newer buildings:

The K.C. Stadium, where my lads play!!

The Deep Submarium.

Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

So there you have it, a few pictures of Hull. Not all that bad in parts.

What's Going on At Leeds Utd??

Leeds Utd went down to a further hiding today 5-1 away at Luton. Things are going spectacularly to pot there!
There are parallels with how my other team, Hull FC went to dogs early in the 2006 season. It wasn't just the fact we were loosing, but the manner in which we lost, at times getting royally stuffed. Thats a sure sign that things are very wrong, and not just a bad patch.
Even if you haven't got the 'star' players, you can create a team, that will play and fight for each other, and never give up even if you are getting stuffed.
Leeds need a permanent manager and they need him NOW. Preferably someone with a strong personality, to get the team by the scruff of the neck, and sort out any problems in the dressing room (where I suspect there are some) and on the pitch.
Gawd knows who'll take the job though.

Fireworks!

Is it just me that hates fireworks with a passion??
They're setting them off already around here, and have been for some time. They're dangerous, and always seem to be found in the hands of kids no matter what restrictions are put on them. On Bonfire Night its like being in a war zone! I have 3 cats and all get scared to death by all the noise. That seems to be the fashion now, more noise and less substance.
About 30 minutes ago someone set one off around here, and believe me, it was one loud bang after another for about a minute. Gawd knows what entertainment folk get out of it!
Now far be it for me to be a killjoy. Fireworks are marvelous to watch, when its a proper display, and thats what it should be. Young idiots shouldn't be able to get their hands on what are really explosives.
But then, silly me, people make money out of them don't they?

Well we lost.....

.....but the team will learn from it, and come back better I'm sure. St Helens are a marvelous footballing side, and deserved all their accolades this season and to win everything in sight. Mind you, we cant have them being greedy can we?
I cant wait for the new season to start already. I get withdrawal symptoms very quickly !
What another great season we have had, thanks lads!!

Butterflies!

What a marvelous day it was in Cardiff last year when we won the Cup. It took me a fortnight to get over it!
Tomorrow night we have what is arguably, the most important game in Hull FC's history. One more win, and we're Super League Champs.
By George a lot of folk will eat their hats if we do too! St Helens are a great team, but one team seem to be able to rattle them, and funnily enough that's us!! :)
I have been doing a bit of research about Old Trafford (where the final is to be played) to find out about parking and things like that. One of the pages I read was an away football fans guide, when going to watch Man Utd. It commented that the atmosphere at games wasn't very good.
God help em tomorrow then, that's all I can say!
Come on lads, go get em!
Daniel Anderson*, get your sunglasses on and prepare to be dazzled!

* The Saints coach, thinks he's one of the Blues Brothers :)

P.S. Even if we get stuffed, I'm still proud of my lads. Love em to death :)

How far we've come.

A few short years ago, Hull FC where in trouble. Our owner was an idiot (yes David Lloyd I mean you!) and we where fast going to the wall, infact it was on the cards.
I wont go into all the details, and how certain factions did their best to make sure we did go to the wall. But in the end we were saved by the Super League merging us with Gateshead, a pet project of theirs to promote the game in the North East that had gone to pot.
The club was re-formed and we continued on. Finally moving to the KC Stadium and we haven't looked back.
I remember how I felt when I thought my club was going to dissapear. I, to be honest, was devastated. Ok, I know that sounds a bit over the top in the scheme of things, but I really love Hull FC, and all the fun, excitement, misery and everything else they have given me. I love all the fabulous fans who seem to, like I mentioned in a previous post, interlink with the team to such an extent that theyre as good as having an extra player.
Tomorrow night is one (if not THE biggest) game in the clubs history. 80 minutes away from the Grand Final. A win and they cant say we bottle the big games, that were not as good as our position suggests. A win and they HAVE to acknowledge us, and how good we are!
Go and get em my lads! Pay back time for the Bulls methinks!!!
