Bish Bash Bosch!!!

The old saying goes, 'everything comes to he who waits' and its true! After many years of 'suggesting' (I never natter, it doesn't work) I finally had my own lovely dishwasher delivered this morning!!
Every time I 'suggested' the idea of having a dishwasher to the Hubby, I always got the reply 'We already have one....you!' (Some people wring the last ounce out of jokes don't they? No shame whatsoever!)
Anyway, all that is in the past.......from now on I can Bish Bash Bosch all my mucky pots and pans!
N.B.*
You may have realised it's made by Bosch lol. Now the old man ordered it as a sort of surprise, and I reckon he knew the name Bosch with them making tools and that! :)

The Blues Brothers.

The first movie I went to see on a date with my then to be husband was The Blues Brothers, I absolutely love that film.
Last night I was at work in the pub, the DJ put this track on from the soundtrack and it had everyone dancing. So, here's Ray Charles in a clip from the movie singing 'Shake a tail feather'.
Should cheer up all you fellow Hull FC and Leeds Utd fans a treat!

Congrats To Saints...

for beating Brisbane Broncos in the World Club challenge. Now Saints have won everything in this last calendar year, and lets face it, they shouldn't be greedy beggers now.
Not to worry though my lads will step into the trophy breach, no probs :)

Back!

Just a quick post.
I've had connection probs this week so have been offline. As you can see I'm back now! :)
Hopefully I'll see wins for both my teams. Can you remember an earlier post when both played the wolves? Well it happens again this weekend. LUFC are away to Wolverhampton and Hull FC away to the Warrington Wolves.
Last time we both got beat (if I recall correctly)
This weekend we wont (fingers crossed!)

Top 5 Fellas!

Last night I was listening to the radio to a phone in, and one of the light hearted subjects that ran through the show was peoples top 5 men or women in the public eye.
Anyway, to cheer me up a bit as I still have a cold, Hull FC lost and for other reasons I mentioned in an earlier post here's my top 5 fellas in no particular order:

No 1. George Clooney is far too handsome for his own good really, but he seems witty, intelligent, the whole package. There must be something wrong with him, most probably supports Man Utd, or Wigan RLFC something like that.
No 2 is Keith Olbermann the US newscaster. I first saw Keith's show 'Countdown' (where he counts down the top 5 stories of the day) about 3 years ago. Shown nightly on US cable, we used to get his Friday night show on CNBC in the UK. I've always been fascinated with US politics, and became a regular viewer. Unfortunately CNBC decided to show infomercials instead, and I'm now reduced to watching clips of Keith online. A really witty man with a great turn of phrase, he's recently become famous for his 'special comments' mainly criticising the Bush administration. Something not many people dare do to often in the US media it seems.
No 3: Jon Stewart is the host of the US 'fake' news show 'The Daily show' now shown in the UK on More4. He makes me laugh especially with his very iffy impressions of President Bush and Dick Cheney. I've always thought that a great leveller for our so called rulers is to poke fun at them. Jon and the Daily Show can at times be inspired.
No 4. is shamefully old enough to be my son. As I have mentioned my daughter is into all things Asian, and has got me watching some of their romantic drama's. They're really not the same as over here, very sweet where kissing is a big thing lol.
Anyway, the 1st one I watched was called 'Full House' and one of its stars was a Korean singer/actor whose stage name is 'Rain' He has one of the most lovely smiles you could ever see, that's why he is on my list, purely looks lol.
No 5: Is ex Hull FC forward and Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp. I have had a bit of a 'crush' on this man for quite a few years. I think it all started when he scored a hat trick against Rovers (no mean feat for a forward!)

Of course although I admire all these fellas, none of em can match up to my dear husband, even when you consider the RL team he supports!

A loss at Leeds

Not the right result at Leeds unfortunately. I'm not too worried as we do have a large core of the side out through injury, flu etc.
What worries me a little is our attack. We are pretty one dimensional when Paul Cooke isn't playing. But it has to be said that has been the case for some time and it hasn't been really addressed, primarily because Cookie is very rarely injured. Hopefully his absence will concentrate a few minds on the issue.
The lads worked damn hard though, playing on a swamp. Just wait for the dry pitches!
I know our loss will cause great hilarity across in the east side of the city, but the reds are away at Huddersfield tomorrow. We'll see how they cope with being roughed up. Shudders can be skilful when they want to be, but don't shy away from a bit of argy bargy!

News and stuff.

Just for Phil I'll comment on Hull FC's 1st game last Sunday. I didn't get to the game as I've been struck down with a bad cold again. By all accounts we were dreadful. But that doesn't worry me too much as were always slow starters.
Onto tonight.
Hopefully the lads will have had their butts kicked by our illustrious coach Mr Peter Sharp. I can't see a run away win like we had last year. The first half demolition of the Rhinos was a sight to behold and the real turning point to our season I think.
Apparently it has been raining all day in Leeds (just like here) so that might curtail any fancy stuff.
I think we have the team to get the points though, tune into Sky Sports 1 at 7.30 for the game. K.O. is 8pm.

Onto other news. My eldest daughter got really good results in her 1st year exams and has a place to go to Kumamoto University in Japan for the 2nd year of her degree. She's very excited and has been in email contact with someone she knows who is there now. All the reports are great!
Kumamoto is a city about the size of Leeds and is found in the south of Japan. Hubby, Kirsty and I are all hoping to visit her next year so it's going to turn out to be an adventure for all of us!

Wednesday was a very sad day, it being the Funeral of one of my parents closest friends, Babs was our Auntie in all but name really, and we all loved her.
Times like this really make you think about things, and seeing my hubby has been abroad working this week, I've been on my own a lot so its been a bit of a tough week.
Anyway, God bless you Babs, hope you give em a chorus of Old Faithful upstairs in the 'Big Mans' house. xxx

Old Faithful

Before I start, congrats to Rovers on their win yesterday against Wakefield, kicking them off with their 1st Superleague points! They're a bit rough around the edges defence wise, but I cant knock them for effort.
Anyway, Hull FC are back today as I mentioned in an earlier post. I've come down with a hell of a cold, and I think I might have to miss today's game! I'm not very pleased about this, but I am at work tonight and sitting out in the cold wont do me much good I guess.
I was doing one of my searches on YouTube and someone had posted this, its from grand final day last year, in the Beer Marquee at Old Trafford, and someone caught a rendition of 'Old Faithful' (the Hull FC club song) on video. I thought I'd post it to mark the beginning of the season!

Come on You Hulllaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Well the Greatest game is back! Hull FC are at home on Sunday to the Catalan Dragons. There is a lot expected of the lads this year. Lots of pundits are tipping us for the Superleague crown. To be honest that always makes me uncomfy, I like being the underdog. But I guess as the team improves it is power for the course we will start being favourites.
We have the squad to go all the way, and I'll be following em all the way too!

Funny Clip

Someone sent me this clip and it made me laugh. Apparently its just a short film that was made to go with a track off Robbie Williams's latest album. There is a swear word at the end of the clip, but I don't think its used in an offensive way.

The Daughter of Time.

My daughter bought me a book the other day, called 'The Daughter of Time' by mystery writer Josephine Tey. I read this book as a teenager and it fostered a life-long fascination with King Richard III.
I have always loved history, I got my solitary 'O' level in the subject, and have lots of books that many would think boring, but I love it!
King Richard has always been my favourite character though. In the book, a police officer is bed ridden in a hospital after an accident. Bored, he is given by a friend pictures of historical figures that have a mystery connected to them. As he had always prided himself on being able to 'read' faces, he was amazed to realise that one portrait was Richard, the' murderer' of the 'princes in the tower', and he goes on to investigate to see if he indeed caused the princes death, or was he a victim of propaganda.
I've always thought he was innocent. Before he became King he ruled the North for his brother Edward IV, and lived in Yorkshire for much of his life. He was much loved there and I always say if Yorkshire men loved him, he cant have been all bad!
Anyway, I've babbled on enough. If you like to read a crime mystery with a twist, try 'The Daughter of Time' it's a really good read!
