Rumour mill gains speed.

Things never run smoothly at Hull FC for very long, they never have done in all the 28 years + I have supported them.
We lost last night at home to the Bradford Bulls 22-32. The Bulls are looking good I have to admit, we had chances to win the game going up 10-0 early doors, but just didn't have enough in the end.
But the result didn't really seem to matter, stuff off the park though did.
I explained in yesterday's post about how our local radio station broke some news about a certain Hull FC player. Now it is their business to report stories, and even speculate about rumours, but one usually isn't presented as the other. Whether the story is true or not, if proof isn't forthcoming it can only be looked on as 'hearsay' or in other words a rumour, no matter what protestations to the contrary are made. FC fans are incensed, one even quoting BBC rules on reporting to the rugby presenters last night.
Now folk could argue some are going over the top, not least the Hull FC club, who banned Radio Humberside from any one to one after match interviews. What they don't understand, especially some of the Sith (KR fans), is that there is a very special passion for the club that is hard to explain, and when the fans feel the team are being disrupted in anyway, the gloves come off.
So in the phone ins, because the station is getting such stick, the Sith are being fed through and every phone-in is becoming a 'bash' the FC fest, just making things worse in my opinion.
But I say let em get on with it, and if Mr Cooke wants to go to Rovers then let him. We gave him his chance as a young lad, and he's given us some great service. But NO player is bigger than the club, so off you trot me laddio!
I hope the Sith are good at baggage handling, cause a lot is coming their way! (allegedly!)

And come on Leeds United a win at Southampton please!!! (pretty please??)

The result isn't that bad cos I reckon Bradford won't be too far away at the end of the season.

Leeds will win at Southampton, we will be out of the bottom three.
I see Luton got relegated last night (good time to let them have Kevin Judas Nicholls back).
I see Bolton have done the dirty on us and recalled Michalik yesterday so I'm not sure who'll be our central defender today.

a couple of points re the cooke farce, i heard at work today 2 new bits to add to the rumours
1. he said goodbye to all his team mates in the changing room after last nights game....personally i think this is bollox.
2. he passed his medical at rovers yesterday......personally i know this to be bollox, how do i know? because if he had a medical at rovers yesterday, this is the last part of the transfer process and which bloody team with any sense (and even you must give rovers this much sense, as i would dull fc) would let a player who has just completed a medical prior to a signing play in a bloody tough game against bradford or any team for that?
On another matter, i went to last nights game, I took james because his friends parents dont like them going to a night match on his own, they are only 12 after all! I sat in the north stand with all my new mates from bradford whilst they went in the east stand, and i was appalled at the behaviour of the idiots in the north east corner, ok i know that all teams have a few idiots, even we do, but these few hundred thick youths spent the full 80 minutes goading the bradford fans and i dont think any of them watched any part of the game, i kid you not when i say that dull fc actually scored and these idiots didnt cheer for a few seconds cos they were in the middle of yet another rendition of "when i was young i asked my mother" etc etc, when i came out of the stand i had to walk past these idiots as i went along the east stand and i heard them talking as they approached the north stand (obviously just little boys acting hard because there doesnt actually appear to be any trouble) but surely the club knows who these are with all the surveillance they have, why dont they ban the bloody fools, they are just causing trouble for your club, and are not true fans.
and finally come on the tigers.

someone posted about the changing room thing on our message board and it was rubbished.
What seems to be the consensus if you look at all the rumours, is Cookie is going to Rovers and to expect an announcement next week. Brent Sherwin has sorted out his passport (he has a German mother) and will be joining us as an off quota player. Incidentally, and I know this is a purely female way of thinking, but I did a search on you tube for Brent, there was a couple of short clips of him, but not enough to see what sort of player he's like. But there was a short interview and he has the cutest of smiles! I like the cut of his jib, he looks like he will be an uplifting influence on my lads :) He's well liked my the fans of the Canterbury Bulldogs too.
On the chavs, now I sit nowhere near em being a southstander, but I hear what goes on, and you're right. If they cause bother they should be chucked out. But its up to folk that are bothered by them to complain, so they have cast iron reasons too chuck em out. Just shouting obnoxious things doesn't count I'm afraid, especially if they're season pass holders.

but what a waste of money, to buy a season pass and then not even watch the game, these idiots are gonna get your club a bad name, if i were a bradford fan the one thing i would take away from the match would have been the memory of these louts.and by the way it is the same place the idiots stand at hull city, are they the same ones i wonder?

You're right about the same 'type' of chav sit in the same spot for footie and rugby, (so I beleive) seems too much of a coincidence for em not to be made up of the same people I think.
I got hold of a short compilation of Brent Sherwin that someone had put together on the Bulldogs fans forum, and I have to say I'm in love! lol (Speaking just about his ability of course)

what do you think about the cookie farce? how about this for a possible scenario. dull keep saying he has a legally binding contract, they wont expand on that, could that possibly be because he wouldnt agree the deal he was given or possibly that dull wouldnt commit because of the trouble he was in therefore a proper deal never got signed, and wasnt after the trouble issue finished. and therefore he is only on a week to week deal, hence he has a legally binding contract but only til the end of the week (or month)then when this runs out he will be a free agent, and the rugby league have said he is officially a dull player, but this could also be until the end of the week (or month)just a thought!

by the way the last post was me, i forgot to change my id.

Well Rovers did say they negotiated the deal on the understanding that Cookie was a free agent. I think that is covering their butts to be honest. I have talked about the contract and that on my latest post as you may have seen.
Personally I think the 2 boards will get together sometime next week and sort something out. Rovers will pay a nominal fee so not to look like crooks, and We'll except it to mask the bloody idiocy of not getting old Judas to sign the bloody contract. What worries me is if his 1st game is against rovers during the millennium weekend. Will he make the centre spot in one piece?
William Hill should take bets!

I meant FOR rovers at the millenium weekend.......silly me!

phil said...

do you detect a lack of glee from me on his signing?

airliebird58 said...

Yes I do, and I have to say you're in the minority, by what I've come across. I really think the thought of 'getting one over the enemy' has fogged the old KR brain cells a bit. Cooke (or Crooke as he is becoming known on the Hull board at rlfans) Is a gifted player no doubt about it, but a bit of a twat. He was actually seen in a well known supermarket on Weds sporting a Hull FC polo shirt! (He's nuts!)
It will take a bit of time for him to bed in too, in the mean time, I'm sure he'll have a lovely reception waiting for him at Cardiff ;)

maybe my reaction to this is something to do with my deep seated non conformist views, ive never been one to follow the pack but have always had my own mind.
